According to the Law, energy
performance certificates are required for:
Moreover, the Act requires that a new
certificate is issued when the old one expires (10 years from its
issuing) or when energy performance is altered due to redevelopment
or renovation of the building (this applies to thermomodernization).
The owner of the building should
ensure that the energy performance certificate is issued and make it
available for the buyer or tenant of the building or apartment.
Special requirements apply to
buildings with total useful floor area over 1000 m2
that are occupied by public authorities and buildings frequently
visited by the public like train stations, airports, museums,
exposition halls. In these buildings energy certificates should be
clearly displayed to educate the society and promote energy
efficiency.
