Objectives
GREEN-IT
aims to introduce energy labelling in the European building
construction products sector and accelerate the EU market
transformation towards regulated Energy Performance of Buildings and
improved “eco-designed” Energy-Using Products. The project aims
to pilot implement energy labelling of EU manufactured and marketed
building products with customised approaches according to each
participating country’s needs. The EU industry is involved in the
project with voluntary mechanisms and product labelling is used as a
mean to promote best practice in construction products manufacturing
and motivate the sector to further compliance with the new EPBD.
Results
The
pilot labelling scheme is primarily based on thermal performance
criteria and building operational energy within the EPBD needs; EU
building products will be assessed, benchmarked and further labelled
based on their contribution to the overall building performance.
However, the customisation of the labelling criteria and requirements
foreseen, to suit the actual market and industry demand of every
country aims at bringing together the different practices and
bridging the diversity that characterises product labelling
procedures in the EU. The labelling scheme consists of the “e2pilot”
sticker along with an online database
which
is intended to provide certified energy data (EU-mandatory data and
national-voluntary data) from accredited institutions of building
construction products to the interested parties (building designers,
constructors, and end users).
