Project description

Nationwide educational program Friendly House - Promotion of low energy buildings in Poland;

informational and educational support for investors, real property managers, and building owners focused on improving the energy performance of buildings.

The scope of the program is designing, modernization, exploitation, and certification of buildings. The program targets private and corporate investors (housing coops., owners associations, housing managers, etc.), local authorities officers, key professional groups, and the media.

Friendly House issues publications: brochures, posters and leaflets, organizes seminars for the representatives of local authorities, building owners and administrators, takes part in professional fairs, and manages a communication platform www.domprzyjazny.org.

Great success of the Friendly House Project


We are proud to inform that our work in the framework of the Friendly House Project, in which we have been engaged in for many years, has brought us recognition on the international scene. The Sustainable Energy Europe campaign each year organizes a projects’ competition. Our project, Friendly House, was nominated for the year 2009, in the category Promotional, Communication and Educational Actions.”

In this year’s edition there were 251 projects from all over Europe. The projects were evaluated by the SEE Technical Committee that nominated 25 projects. The awards were given in 5 categories:

In the category “Demonstration and Dissemination”:

• PE International for the project HyFLEET: CUTE

• KlimaHaus Agentur/Agenzia CasaClima for the programme CASACLIMA/KLIMAHAUS. Italy was first (since 2002) to begin the buildings’ certification process through defining its energy performance - patronage of Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea - SEE Social Campaign

• Province of Reggio Emilia for the project ECO-ABITA - patronage of Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea - SEE Social Campaign

• City of Stockholm, Environment & Health Administration for the project BEST - Bioethanol for Sustainable Transport

In the category “Market Transformation”:

• Mitsubishi Electric Living Environmental Systems Division for the project The Green Gateway Initiative from Mitsubishi Electric Living Environmental Systems (LES)

• Business Region Göteborg for the project Biogas West.

• Sonae Sierra for Sonae Sierra: Popularizing sustainable energy through the development and management of green shopping malls

• Nokia Siemens Networks / COO / Radio Access for the project Nokia Siemens Networks Green Flexi Base Station drives down mobile network carbon footprint by up to 70%.

• City of Göteborg, Traffic and Public Transport Authority with Environmental Programme for the City of Göteborg – Sustainable transportation system becomes a reality

• Climate Energy Ltd for the project Thurrock Energy Partnership

• County Council of Seville (Area of Sustainability and Hidraulic Cycle of Seville) for the project “Energy rules in the province of Seville”

• HIRC - Hydrogen Innovation and Research Centre for the project RES-FC Market

• Regional markets of Renewable Energy Sources - Fuel Cell Systems for households. ALTENER, small scale applications.



National Energy Conservation Agency was recognized next to such companies and institutions as London Energy Efficiency Ltd., Toyota Motor Europe, Mobiel 21, EnergieAgentur.NRW, ERSE - Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos and Warsaw University of Technology. The company we found ourselves in is prestigious.

5. Sustainable Energy Communities


The 2008/2009 Sustainable Energy Europe Awards nominees in the category “Co-operation Programmes” were:

• Oikos Institute for the BEST RAY project – energy supply for villages in Tanzania – patronage of Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea - SEE Social Campaign

• PlaNet Financial Group for the project RENDEV: fighting poverty in Bangladesh and Indonesia with the use of solar energy and the rules of sustainable development

• Solar Solidarity International for the project Electrification in developing countries with the use of solar energy.
