Objectives
The main objective of the project is to reduce the energy consumption of home appliances, promoting the purchase of energy efficient household appliances (Class A, A+, A++) – refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, ovens, air conditioners, and light bulbs.
To promote the use of more efficient appliances and equipment and measures that will improve the quality and effectiveness of information available to consumers at point of sale, the project will focus on training the sales staff of appliances stores so that they can best advise customers on the benefits of using more energy efficient appliances.
The specific objectives are:
- Raise awareness among consumers through campaigns that will promote the efficient use of electrical equipment and encourage energy savings.
- Reduce energy consumption of appliances by promoting the purchase of efficient appliances.
- Provide information and training to sales staff which will assist them in selling energy efficient appliances.
- Raise awareness among the general public on the benefits of energy efficient appliances.
Project steps to reach the targets
Information and support for shops
Establish a network of trained and supported stores selling household appliances.
Disseminate the project among the sales staff of household appliances stores.
Produce a Protocol Agreement signed and agreed by participating stores.
Study of training needs
Conduct customer surveys to identify customer purchasing habits and their decision making process.
Analyse and interpret surveys.
Sales staff training
Train shops selling energy efficient appliances to improve their skills and
quality of the information transmitted to the client.
Develop training material for the stores.
Certification system
Implement a certification system for the stores and develop promotional activities under the project.
Develop a certification report, stores promotional material, and information banners, etc.
Assessment and monitoring
Collate quantitative data before and after the project.
Evaluate the impact of the project on participating stores.
Communication and Dissemination
Promote project activities among consumers and stores.
Create a web platform for information exchange between partners, developing a newsletter, brochures in different languages, publicity, promotional tools at events, creating a database, and organise conferences for the dissemination of the Project.
Benefits for the stores / chains
Receive advice and accurate quality information which will enhance staff relationships with customers and provide better understanding of customer purchasing behaviour.
Highlight the stores commitment to sustainable energy practices and environmental protection measures.
Improve the competitiveness of the store / chain.
European visibility for chains participating in the project, enabling them to position themselves in an international market and its link to energy efficiency strategies in Europe.
